The Applecross Historical Society was established in 1998 by a group of local people who were conscious that the historical, religious and cultural background of this unique and isolated Highland community was in danger of being lost in a rapidly changing world.  The Society's mission is to advance the education of the public by research, collation, recording, publication by any means, dissemination and promotion of the history of Applecross and the surrounding area.

The Society and the Heritage Centre are run entirely by local volunteers.
